Summer Job as a Journalist at Upsala Nya Tidning

Do you want to work in an exciting environment where you get to meet people and share what is happening in the local community? Then you should apply for a summer job with us at Upsala Nya Tidning! UNT has been named Newspaper of the Year and is one of Sweden's largest local newspapers. We are in the midst of a strong digital development and work every day to provide our audience with the best coverage of Uppland. For the summer of 2026, we are looking for new journalists.

At Upsala Nya Tidning, we are driven by the power of journalism to change society for the better. We work with both quick news and investigations, and we want what we do to resonate. We always keep the audience at the center and tell the story in the form that best suits the news, whether it is live, text, image, video, or audio.

As a substitute at UNT, you will have a group of engaged, kind, and helpful colleagues who will teach you a lot. In return, we hope to benefit from your curiosity and desire to tell stories. No matter where your strengths lie - in text, image, video, social media, or investigative journalism - you are welcome to apply. We hope you want to be part of our team!

About the Roles

REPORTERS:

We are looking for reporters for the news, culture, and sports desks. You are skilled at finding angles and writing clearly and directly, as well as capturing the most important aspects in a text, image, or video. You easily connect with people and build trust, and you have good language skills, attention to detail, and a strong interest in society. When given the chance, you often have your own ideas about what we should cover and how it can be told in an engaging way.

DESK EDITORS:

We are looking for desk editors for the news desk. Experience in web publishing is a requirement, as well as knowledge of image and video editing. You have experience in news evaluation and insights into basic publisher assessments. You are stress-resistant, skilled at finding angles, can extract the most important elements of a story, and enjoy creating enticing headlines. You like working with digital presentation in the form of images and videos and know how to best present news on social media. Your language skills are good, you are detail-oriented, and you have a strong interest in society.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a commitment to local journalism and a desire to convey news that engages and resonates.
  • Is curious, enjoys meeting new people, and is willing to learn new things.
  • Has or is studying a journalism degree or equivalent, or has equivalent work experience.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced work environment where tasks may be prioritized based on the news situation.
  • Has a good sense of language, can understand angles, and convey straightforward news in text.
  • Has basic knowledge of photography and film (with mobile and/or DSLR camera).
  • Has knowledge of journalism such as interview techniques, research, information gathering, source criticism, and news packaging.

The positions may involve working hours during the day, evenings, and weekends. A B driver's license is required as driving is part of the job.

Selection and interviews will be ongoing, and the position may be filled before the application deadline.
